The Grade R children enjoyed a morning\u00a0 mathematics ring, followed by a story-treasure hunt-creative construction activity. The younger children enjoyed making music with rhythm sticks, and dramatising stories.\u00a0 In the afternoon the staff and A+ facilitators got together to reflect on the morning\u2019s work. Below are some of the ideas generated by the iThemba staff:<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p>\u2981 \u201cInvolve the children more in activities so that they feel part of their learning and feel pride in what they do\u201d<\/p><p>\u2981 ask open-ended questions<\/p><p>\u2981 use waste materials to make story aids<\/p><p>\u2981 hide numbers and number names in the garden<\/p><p>\u2981 build sandcastles while measuring sand and water<\/p><p>\u2981 go outside for learning activities<\/p><p>\u2981 use a story as a starting point for maths and language learning<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"has_eae_slider elementor-section
